HENRIETTA FORREST Long Standing Client
I first met Ernest many years ago - an amateur show jumper - I told him I had been working my horse to 'get good enough' for a lesson with him. He replied I should have come from the beginning! He was right I had to unlearn lots of bad habits. Since then Ernest has helped me reach heights I never thought possible, on various horses.
Ernest reacts instinctively to different riders and horses - the mark of a highly gifted, natural teacher. His methods are consistent, his lessons never dull but he insists that the basics are right which gives you the skills to cope in the fast moving environment of the competing ring. He inspires confidence and trust, gets to the root of problems and when he pushes you out of your comfort zone you know you can do it. He works sympathetically with each horse - it's always the rider that must do better.
Recently after several years off jumping having children I went back to Ernest, nervous if the jumps went over 2ft. Once again he's worked his magic and I am now enjoying jumping BSJA courses I thought I would never tackle again. As a busy amateur rider with kids and a job my time on my horse is precious and, in my book, an Ernest lesson is time well spent.

JANE SMITH Amateur Showjumper
Ernest has trained me for over ten years on various different horses, and you can always rely on him for honest, constructive advice. My lessons with him have seen me progress from novice showjumping to Foxhunter level, and hopefully even further in the future. He takes the time to get to know horse and rider, and is genuinely interested your progress and successes. He always finds the balance between hard work and good fun - just the way it should be!

Ernest has been teaching me for many years and his help has been totally invaluable. He has such a wonderful understanding of the training of a horse. I always finish the lessons feeling inspired and counting down to the next one. With his guidance I really feel I have learnt so much, both in my riding and attitude to training and competing which has lead to results I did not think were possible.

Ernest has a great eye for the individual horse and always knows which exercises will suit each one. His calm and simple approach has helped both me and my horses to gain confidence and produce more clear rounds.
